Album: 9 Album by FOLA

FOLA’s upcoming album 9 marks a bold step forward in the Nigerian music scene, blending raw energy with infectious hooks across its 14-track lineup. Scheduled for release in 2026, the project showcases FOLA’s signature versatility, weaving together anthemic production and unapologetic lyricism.

From the opening bars of “awade” to the late-night vibes of “2am in toronto” featuring Davido, each track promises a fresh take on Afrobeats’ evolving sound. The album balances introspection and swagger, with standout collaborations like Ayra Starr on “treat u right” and BNXN on “my type” adding depth to the mix.

The tracklist hints at FOLA’s knack for blending personal narratives with universal themes, whether in the reflective “miss u ii (nriri)” or the unfiltered confidence of “stubborn.” Standout moments include the high-energy “fine ting (fine $hit)” and the moody “it’s over,” which features Bella Shmurda and Zlatan.

Each production choice, from the bass-heavy grooves to the melodic interludes, reinforces FOLA’s ability to shift between genres while keeping the energy intact. The album’s structure suggests a journey—one that starts with introspection and builds toward a crescendo of empowerment.

Collaborations play a key role in shaping 9’s identity, with artists like Davido, Ayra Starr, and Darkoo lending their distinct styles to tracks that feel both organic and strategically placed. FOLA’s knack for curating chemistry with these collaborators ensures the album remains dynamic, avoiding the pitfalls of a one-dimensional sound.

Tracks like “hold u down” and “crime” further highlight the artist’s ability to balance vulnerability with assertiveness, making the project feel both personal and universally relatable.

As the release date approaches, 9 positions FOLA as a force to watch in the industry, promising an album that’s as much about storytelling as it is about sonic innovation. Whether through the anthemic chorus of “attention!” or the late-night energy of “waf,” the project solidifies FOLA’s place at the forefront of contemporary Afrobeats. Fans and newcomers alike can expect an experience that’s equal parts immersive and unforgettable.
